Bridging the gap...
So you understand a little about where they are right now, in terms of your personality, your skills, your roles and your priorities. You may also have an idea about where they want to be in the future. Next, let’s try to bridge that gap…
Let's try to answer three questions;
- Where are you now?
- Where do you want to be?
- How are you going to get there?
Who are you? How would you summarize your current self? If you have completed some of the other Life Design exercises, you might want to mention whether you are introvert or extrovert, whether you have a fixed or growth mindset, what your main interests or skills are, what makes you happy, what you really care about?
Once you have summarised your current self, consider how you would like to be described in the future. Perhaps you would like to be described as confident, highly skilled, caring, wealthy? Try to be as specific as possible, if you would like to be described as highly skilled, which skills would you like to be known for? Wealthy? How much money would you like to have in your bank account or what income would you like to have? Would you be self-employed? Working for your favourite company? Summarise your future self.
Now that you have a snapshot of where you are now and where you want to be in the future. Now your task is to explore what activities you could be doing that would help you progress towards that future version of you.
The role of this exercise is begin bridging the gap between where you are right now and where you want to be in the future.
